I’ve been a freelance writer in the worlds of both journalism and advertising since 2014.
As a journalist, my work has appeared in dozens of online and print outlets, including the New York Times, the Guardian, Atlanta Magazine, Garden & Gun, Communication Arts, Vice, and more. Essays of mine have been printed in two books: “Southern Women” (HarperCollins, October 2019) and “Why We Cook” (Workman Publishing, March 2021).
As a copywriter, I’ve worked with big consumer brands, scrappy local startups, and agencies of all sizes. I’ve written a voice and tone guide for a prestige TV show’s social media presence, and helped to create weird gifs for an international doughnut chain. I’ve developed product descriptions for fancy salts and packaging copy for pecan milk. I’ve written video scripts for lawyers, universities, and a transit agency. I’ve done ghostwriting, sponsored content, and more pitch decks than I can count. One time, I even wrote a character reference for a beagle tangled up in a court case. (I did that last one for free, though. She was a good girl.)
